U.S. Senate hopeful addresses Lone Star Patriots of Leon County


Dwayne Stovall Dwayne Stovall Lone Star Patriots of Leon County met May 23, 2013 at the Flo Community Center with approximately 30 in attendance. Nick Nickerson gave the opening prayer and everyone joined in to say the Pledge to the flags.

Barbara Johnson introduced the speaker for the evening . His name is Dwayne Stovall from Cleveland, Texas and he wants to run for the U.S. Senate in 2014 from the district that includes the counties of Liberty, Walker and San Jacinto. The current senator is John Cornyn who has held the seat for two terms.

Mr. Stovall states that he is speaking to conservative and liberty oriented groups to see if it’s possible for a regu- lar citizen, like himself, to get the 5000 signatures to enter the race. To get on the ballot requires a fee of $5000.00 or 5000 signatures.

Among many other issues facing the government, such as, gun control, immigration, unconstitutional growth, Mr. Stovall feels the debt problem is the main concern.

A question and answer time was given and a petition was available for signature.
