Burned out apartments are well on their way to recovery
     About four years ago two structures of the threebuilding apartment complex at 130 Town Street in Centerville were severely damaged by a fire. The buildings were unoccupied and, thankfully, no one was injured but the property had remained in ruins for many months since the fire.

4H Leaders for Life from Leon County win Nationals in Denver
     On Monday before Commissioners Court was convened proud daddy David Ferguson announced that the 4H Leaders For Life team had won the national competition in Denver.  Lenora Oden, in the AgriLife Extension Office, verified that the group is currently in Denver and are participating in the Western National Roundup Contest and have, indeed, won their competition.

Where the wind turbines spin
     We have all watched with interest as huge flatbed trucks transported giant wind turbine blades down I-45. During recent holiday travels to west Texas, I was able to see some of them in action in the open plains near Sweetwater, Texas. It was an impressive sight, indeed, to watch these space-age looking windmills silently rotating their huge propellors. Their numbers were impressive, too.

OISD welcomes new Ag teacher
     Right before the Christmas break, OISD was in need of a new Ag teacher, which was convenient for Anna Milstead because she had just graduated from Sam Houston in December and needed a job. And so, the match was made. Milstead reports that she could not be happier with her choice to teach Ag at Oakwood. "Everyone here has been so nice to me. They've been so welcoming.
