Early voting began October 18

By Sherry Matney

Early voting for the 2010 Election begins on October 18 and goes through October 29, 2010. Voting hours are from 8:00 to 5:00 each day except the last two days which are 7:00 to 7:00. Early ballots may be cast on the 2nd floor of the Leon County Annex II building in the Election Administrator’s office.

Ballots may be executed by mail but be aware that the ballots must be received by the Election Administrator’s office by October 26. Mail ballots may be picked up from the Election Administrator’s office or printed from the website of the Texas Secretary of State (www.sos. state.tx.us/. Once on the site type “early voting ballot” in the search box then select # 10 and follow instructions.

To be eligible to vote early by mail in Texas you must: be 65 years or older; be disabled; be out of the county on election day and during the period for early voting by personal appearance; be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible.
