Two intern at First Baptist

By Nick Bain

Two Centerville students have been interning at the First Baptist Church in Centerville, Texas over the course of the summer holidays and will continue to do so throughout the remainder of the 2009 and 2010 school year. Aaron Cook and Jill Lacey put in a total of approximately 75 hours during the summer. 32 of those hours spent on evangelism training and the remainder spent on administration interning. Their duties involved making copies, decorating, answering phones, making follow up calls on visitors, and an- nouncements for the church bulletin. Lacey and Cook are also responsible for contributing to portions of Wednesday night youth services.

The youth pastor, Preston Cave, held a mission trip to St. Louis, Missouri in which Cook and Lacey both attended on July 9th-18th. They served under Global Encounters at Jewel Baptist Church. Global Encounters is an association that gathers churches around the United States through mail and word of mouth to put on vacation bible schools in areas all over. Cook and Lacey where two of just under 300 people who participated in helping spread the word of God to the children of the St. Louis area in the course of one week.
