Norma Allbritton Arrested And Indicted For 35 Year Old Murder

A thirty five year old unsolved homicide case that occurred off of U.S. Highway 75 just South of Bliss Creek from Buffalo was reviewed and reinvestigated by a team of Leon County investigators and a “Cold Case” review team. The case stemmed from the murder of Johnnie Allbritton in his home in 1984 and resulted in the indictment and arrest of his widow, Norma Allbritton in 2019.

Johnnie Allbritton was a well known businessman in Buffalo where he had run the local grocery. He had remarried following his wife’s death. He married her home care giver, Norma Clinkscales. The new wife was a suspect among locals following Allbritton’s death and even more so following the death of his young daughter in the same home a short time later. While the daughters death was ruled a suicide, many elements of the case were deemed suspicious by the citizens.

This belated arrest and indictment seems to indicate that they were correct, although everyone must be considered innocent until the jury has spoken.

An intense reinvestigation was conducted reviewing all leads. On June 27th 2019 a Leon County grand jury returned an indictment for the charge of murder and an arrest warrant was issued for Norma Allbritton. She was arrested on July 1, 2019.
