Doris Ann (Newton) Ewing was born December 5, 1960 to Ross and Jeanette (Copeland) Newton in Bryan, Texas. She married Rodney Ewing on December 5, 1980 in Flynn, Texas.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend who enjoyed spoiling and caring for not only her family but others as well. With a knack for creating beautiful things, she spent her free time baking, crafting and decorating for special events with close friends Kim Wood and the late Francis Jo Donahoe. She was a faithful member of Clear Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she was the secretary.
Doris passed away on May 2, 2016 in College Station, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father; her mother-inlaw, Lavon Ewing; her grandparents; two aunts; two uncles; a great aunt and a great uncle. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Rodney Ewing of Robbins, Texas; daughters, Allisen Ewing of Bryan, Texas and Sara Ewing of Flynn, Texas; god-daughter Paula Adams ( husband, Donnie) of Flynn, Texas; mother, Jeanette Newton of Flynn, Texas; sisters, Pam Newton of College Station, Texas and Mary Lois McRee (husband, Clint) of Leona, Texas; an aunt, Mary Lou Woodson (husband, Mark) of Katy, Texas; father-in-law, Don Ewing of Bryan, Texas; brother-in-law Bill Ewing (wife, Karen) of Appleton, Wisconsin; sisterin law, Debbie Winkler (husband, Charles) of Fedor, Texas; brother-inlaw Tommy Ewing (wife, Nancy) of Giddings, Texas; two cousins; six nieces; nine nephews; two great nieces and five great nephews along with numerous family and friends.
Funeral services for Doris Ewing were held at 10 AM, Friday May 6, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Flynn, Texas. Burial was in the Wealthy Cemetery west of Normangee, Texas. Walters Funeral Home in Centerville was in charge of all arrangements.
Pallbearers: Thomas Ewing, Jeff Winkler, Jason Winkler, Wyatt Wood, Ryan Payne, Blake Payne, Britton McRee, Dalton Hall and Candon Wood. Honorary pallbearers: Gypson Wood, Lonny Wright, Wayne Byrd, Trey Hinson, Kenny Hinson and T.J. Donahoe.
In lieu of flowers, Doris Ewing’s family requests that donations be made to a special account set up with Citizens State Bank that will be divided among various charities.
