First Baptist Church to host Pumpkin Patch
     This year marks the twentieth year for the First Baptist Church Pumpkin Patch. For many people across Leon and surrounding counties, attending Pumpkin Patch has become a family tradition. This is a wonderful event for the entire family. The event will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, from 6PM until 8PM at First Baptist Church in Buffalo, Texas.

     On September 29, 2018 a birthday party for Minnie Pearl Reese was given at Tammie Bruce’s home in Buffalo, TX. Minnie Pearl turned 86 years old on September 25, she celebrated with her family. She has four children and seven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren with two on the way. Minnie Pearl is the oldest of twelve children born to Clifton and Bessee Green.

Do you know about the Marquez meteor crater?
     At an upcoming event at the Roberta Bourne Memorial Library in Marquez, Texas on Thursday Oct. 18 at 2:00PM there will be a discussion of the Mar- quez Crater with Jimmy Hill. According to the Earth Impact Database, the Marquez Crater is a 58 million year old 12.7 km structure preserved in sedimentary rock in the area North, Northeast of Marquez.

LEEA installs new officers
     On September 26, 2018 the Leon Extension Education Association (LEEA) met for their monthly meeting at the Annex Building in Centerville, TX, 3rd floor conference room. Along with the business meeting LEEA had installation of new officers for the upcoming term (2018- 2020).

Private Pesticide Applicator Training set for October 16
     The Leon County office of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will conduct a Private Pesticide Applicator Training on Tuesday, October 16. The training will be held in the Grand Room at the Leon County Extension Office, located on the third floor of Annex I at 113 West Main Street in Centerville. A registration fee of $50.00 will cover your training materials for the morning.

     The Leon County Master Gardeners will be hosting a Greenhouse Management Workshop on Wednesday, October 17, in the Great Room of Leon County Annex II. The Great Room of Leon County Annex II is located at 155 North Cass Street in Centerville. The program will begin at 12:05 p.m. and will conclude by 1:00 p.m.

Get your hay samples turned in for 2018 Hay Show and Educational Program
     The Leon County office of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is partnering with Extension offices in Anderson, Freestone, and Limestone counties in planning the 2018 Hay Show. This year’s Hay Show will be held on Tuesday, October 30 at 5:30 p.m. at the Ben E. Keith Meeting Room, located at 2019 W. Oak Street in Palestine.
