Leon County Sheriff’s Report

At 6:51 AM, Deputy Jerry Nichols was dispatched to FM 811 in reference to an abandoned vehicle. The owner of the vehicle arrived and a wrecker was called to remove the vehicle. Call was cleared.

At 8:11 AM, Deputy Jerry Nichols was dispatched to HWY 79 in Oakwood, in reference to an animal complaint. Upon arrival, the animals seemed to be in good health, with feed and shelter. Call was cleared and Deputy Nichols returned to service.

At 12:30 PM, Investigator Michael Merchant, along with Investigators Victor Smith, Don Craft, and Wayne Sallee, were requested to go to CR 466 in Normangee to assist with a Felony Warrant out of Montgomery County. One was arrested and transported to Leon County Jail, without incident.

At 12:52 PM, Deputy Jerry Nichols was dispatched to South Cass Street in Centerville, in reference to criminal mischief. A report was made of the incident but Deputy Nichols didn’t locate anything in the area to be suspicious activity or any damage to property. Deputy Nichols then returned to service.

At 3:43 PM, Deputy Jerry Nichols was dispatched to North Cass St. in Centerville, in reference to a civil matter over property

lines. After speaking with both parties, an agreement was made. No further action is needed at this time.

At 4:51 PM, Deputy Jerry Nichols was dispatched to CR 386 in Marquez, in reference to a welfare concern. After making contact with the resident of the property, everything was found to be okay and call was cleared. Deputy Nichols returned to service.

At 8:27 PM, Deputy Robert Kelly, along with Deputy Chad Hill, were dispatched to W. St. Mary’s St. in Centerville, in reference to an assault. One was arrested and transported to the Leon County Jail.

2/22/18

At 2:56 PM, Jail Administrator Brian Stafford was called to the LCSO Lobby for someone turning themselves in for a local warrant. One was walked to the Leon County Jail and booked, without incident.

At 3:59 PM, Deputy Jerry Nichols was dispatched to CR 282 in Buffalo, in reference to a noise complaint. The party was contacted and warned about the complaint. Call was cleared and Deputy Nichols returned to service.

2/23/18

At 3:39 PM, Deputy Kristin Shaw was dispatched to Spur 3 in Normangee, in reference to an assault report. A report was made by both parties and is pending further investigation.

At 4:32 PM, Deputy Bud Trammel was dispatched to North HWY 75 in reference to a theft complaint. A report was made for the stolen trailer and power tools. This case is active and was forwarded to investigations.

At 7:15 PM, Deputy Jimmy Gifford was advised that a purse was located at the Dairy Queen in Centerville.

After finding the ID, the owner was contacted and set up a time to pick it up the following day. Case was closed and Deputy Gifford returned to service.

At 7:45 PM, Deputy Jimmy Gifford was dispatched to Woody’s #2 in Centerville, in reference to a verbal argument in the parking lot. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the vehicles and parties involved had left the property and were unable to be located. Call was cleared.

2/24/18

At 2:42 AM, Deputy Stephen Pate was dispatched to N. Love St. in Oakwood, in reference to suspicious activity. Upon arrival and meeting with the reporting party about someone trespassing on his property, the subject was unable to be located. Local law enforcement was notified of the incident and the call was cleared.

At 4:10 PM, Deputy Stephen Dicker was asked to contact a reporting party involving a possible theft. A report was taken of the theft and forwarded to investigations.

At 4:56 PM, Deputy Cody Wood was dispatched to CR 456 in Normangee in reference to threats being made. After speaking with both parties, an agreement was made and the call was cleared. Deputy Wood returned to service.

At 6:00 PM, Deputy Stephen Pate was dispatched to PR 4450 in Normangee, in reference to a noise complaint. Upon arrival, Deputy was unable to locate anything out of the ordinary. Call was cleared.

At 8:01 PM, Deputy Stephen Pate was dispatched to PR 3060 in Buffalo in reference to a welfare concern. Upon arrival, both subjects were found

to be okay and their family was contacted to be aware. Call was cleared.

At 8:55 PM, Deputy Stephen Pate was dispatched to HWY 7 East in Centerville in reference to loose livestock. The owner was contacted on the location of their miniature pony, and was able to locate and retrieve their animal. Call was cleared.

At 9:43 PM, Deputy Stephen Pate was dispatched to PR 3060 in Buffalo, in reference to suspicious activity. Upon arrival, subject was unable to be located but a report was made of the incident.

At 10:21 PM, Deputy Stephen Pate was dispatched to FM 39 S. in reference to an animal complaint. Upon arrival, it was explained that there is no leash law in Leon County. The other party was attempted to be reached but that was unsuccessful.

2/25/18

At 12:22 AM, Deputy Jimmy Gifford was dispatched to the Lobby of LCSO, in reference to harassment complaints. After meeting with the reporting party, a report was made of the incident and forwarded to the County Attorney’s office for review.

At 6:49 AM, Deputy Tommy Page was contacted to come to the LCSO Lobby for a subject that wanted to turn himself in on a current warrant. Warrant was verified by dispatch and subject was walked around and booked in Leon County Jail without incident.

2/26/18

At 9:18 AM, Deputy Jerry Nichols was contacted at LCSO Lobby about a possible report of a threat. After speaking with the reporting party, a report was made of the incident.

At 12:29 PM, Deputy Stanley Rodgers was dispatched to HWY 3

& Brushy Cemetery in Marquez, in regards to a loose horse. The horse was diverted back to the owner’s property with the owner present. Call was cleared and Deputy Rodgers returned to service.

At 4:56 PM, Deputy Kristin Shaw was dispatched to PR 3140 in Jewett, in reference to a family disturbance. Upon arrival and meeting with both parties, it was decided to not press charges and one party left the property for the night. An advocate was notified of this incident. Case was closed, with no further investigation needed.

2/27/18

At 1:32 AM, Deputy Kristin Shaw, along with Sgt. Chris Rosales, attempted to make a routine traffic stop on a vehicle with no license plate, at Jefferson St. in Centerville. After being pulled over, the driver of the vehicle fled on foot and was unable to be located. The passenger of the vehicle had an out of county warrant (verified by Dispatch) and was transported to Leon County Jail without incident.

At 1:34 AM, Deputy Chad Hill was dispatched to PR 1205 in Leona, in response to the report of a suspicious vehicle sitting at the gate of a residence. Upon speaking with the owner of the property, it was verified that it was family visiting and the call was cleared. Deputy Hill returned to service.

At 9:31 AM, Deputy Jerry Nichols was dispatched to CR 390 in Jewett in reference to criminal trespassing. A Criminal Trespass Warning was issued for the subject, but it was unable to be delivered at this time, due to not being able to locate the person.

At 12:37 PM, Deputy Tommy Page was dispatched to LCSO Lobby in order to speak with a

complainant in reference to credit/debit card fraud. A report was made of the incident.

At 3:16 PM, Deputy Tommy Page responded to a possibly intoxicated subject at Woody’s #1 in Centerville. Upon arrival, the subject was found with coworkers and was obtained in a vehicle. The coworkers were made aware that if the subject gets out again, that he would be arrested. The coworkers understood and left the area a short time later. Call was cleared.

At 4:24 PM, Deputy Jerry Nichols was dispatched to CR 301 in Buffalo, in reference to a welfare concern. Upon arrival, Deputy Nichols met with the resident of the property and was given the numbers to contact the parties he needed to speak to.

At 7:11 PM, Deputy Chad Hill was dispatched to Commerce St. in Centerville in reference to an abandoned vehicle. The owner of the property that the vehicle was on, notified officer that he would wait to see if the vehicle was retrieved, if not, he would call a wrecker service. Deputy Hill returned to service.

At 7:39 PM, Deputy Kristin Shaw was dispatched to Yellow Rose Travel Center in Normangee, in reference to an unwanted person. Upon arrival, and finding the subject to be a danger to himself and others, he was arrested for Public Intoxication and transported to Leon County Jail without incident.

At 9:38 PM, Deputy Chad Hill was advised to contact a complainant in reference to a reckless driver on CR 450 in Marquez. A report was made of the incident.
