Bison win and lose in district action

Sherry’s Shots The Bison defeated Frankston easily 48-19. Both teams were cold in the first quarter as the Bison led 7-1 paced by Ryan Rath who scored 3 points. The action heated up in the second quarter as Jamaul Randle, Dirk Kilgore and Rath scored 4 points each and the Bison had a comfortable 22-7 lead. Randle scored 5 points in the third quarter and the Bison led 35- 13 as the fourth quarter began. Jacob Simpson led the Bison in the final quarter scoring 5 points and the Bison had an easy 48-19 victory. Stats for the Bison: Randle scored 12 points and had 4 rebounds, Kilgore scored 11 points and had 2 rebounds, Rath scored 10 points and had 6 rebounds, Jacob Simpson scored 7 points and had 2 rebounds, Caleb Ayers scored 4 points and had 2 rebounds, Lance Pauler scored 2 points, Timmy Simpson scored 1 point and had 4 rebounds, Luis Porras scored 1 point and had 7 rebounds, Jarrett Fishbeck had 2 rebounds.

Sherry’s Shots The Bison traveled to Teague for a game on February 2nd and had a rough night losing 57-68. The game was close in the first quarter as Fishbeck scored 5 points but the Bison trailed 10-12. The game was still close at intermission as Kilgore scored 4 points but the Bison faced a 21-25 deficit. Randle, Kilgore and Porras scored 4 points each in the third quarter but the Bison trailed 37- 41 with the fourth quarter to be played. Early in the fourth period the Bison trailed 41-42 and it was anybody's game but Teague got hot scoring 27 points in the final quarter and the Bison fell 57-68 with Kilgore scoring 9 points in the final quarter. Stats for the game: Kilgore scored 20 points and had 7 rebounds, Rath scored 9 points and had 1 rebound, Fishbeck scored 8 points and had 12 rebounds, Randle scored 8 points and had 2 rebounds, Porras scored 6 points and had 2 rebounds, Ayers scored 6 points.

The Bison have a bye on February 6th before traveling to Malakoff for a game on February 9th and host Leon on February 13th in their final district game. The Bison seniors will be recognized before the game against Leon. The Bison are fighting for a playoff berth as they have 2 games remaining.

The UIL announced their realignment for sports beginning with the football season this fall. The realignment will be for 2 years. The 8 teams in District 7 Division 2 for the football season are Blooming Grove, Buffalo, Dallas Gateway Charter Academy, Edgewood, Mildred, Palmer, Rice, and Scurry-Rosser. The 7 teams in basketball are Buffalo, Crockett, Elkhart, Frankston, Groesbeck, Palestine Westwood, and Teague.
