Chamber banquet shows attendance growth

The Buffalo Chamber of Commerce held it’s annual awards banquet Tuesday night January 30, in the Buffalo Civic Center where 120 people attended. Chamber President Phillip Bounds opened the ceremony by thanking everyone for coming and asking everyone to join him in reciting the pledge of allegiance. The invocation was led by Chamber Director and Pastor Matthew Travis. Everyone was served a chicken fried steak and gravy with green beans, ranch house potatoes, roll and ice tea and desserts. The dinner was catered by Cindy Sitton “Catering by Cindy” of Jewett.


Last Chance Signs and Designs owner and Chamber Director Samantha Jones sponsored and awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award to the 2016-2017 Lady Bison Basket Ball Team, Receiving the Award is Girls Basket Ball Coach Mrs. Jozett Jenkins. Last Chance Signs and Designs owner and Chamber Director Samantha Jones sponsored and awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award to the 2016-2017 Lady Bison Basket Ball Team, Receiving the Award is Girls Basket Ball Coach Mrs. Jozett Jenkins. After the meal President Bounds presented to all in attendance the 2018 Chamber of Commerce Officers and Board of Directors. Officers are: President Phillip Bounds, Vice President Samantha Jones, Secretary/Treasurer Twila Snyder.

Directors are: Chase Glick, Tommy Neyland, Chad Rudani, Calvin Williams, Elaine Graves, Matthew Travis, Susan Wilder, Holly King, Parthena Moore, Karen Jackson Capio, Elizabeth Ferrari, Corey Theiss and Ken Jones.

President Bounds recognized honored guest, State Representative Trent Ashby, Justice of the peace Lori Reed, District clerk Beverly Wilson, Leon County Commissioner David Ferguson, Sandy Lumley, Frank Dobrovlony, Buffalo City Council person Dianne Ryder, Buffalo City Council person Gerald Salazar and wife Mrs. Martha Salazar. The awards ceremony followed.


State Representative Trent Ashby Presents a State Capital Award to Excellence in Buffalo Award recipient Ms. Parthena Moore for all her achievements in Buffalo. State Representative Trent Ashby Presents a State Capital Award to Excellence in Buffalo Award recipient Ms. Parthena Moore for all her achievements in Buffalo. Awards were given in 6 Different categories: Citizen of the year, Business of the Year, Non Profit organization of the Year, Youth Organization, Excellence in Buffalo and Outstanding Achievement.

The Citizen of the year award went to State Representative Trent Ashby and was sponsored by Community National Bank and Trust. The award was presented by Community national Bank Vice President Tommy Neyland. Representative Ashby also presented each category recipient with an award from the State Capital recognizing each one for their achievements. The Business of the Year award went to “Community National Bank and Trust” and was sponsored by Ms. Parthena Moore. Accepting the award was bank Vice President Tommy Neyland, Nonprofit organization was awarded to First Baptist Church and was sponsored by Apostolic Life U.P.C. Pastor Matthew Travis presented the award and receiving the award was Pastor Alan Grisham. The Youth Organization award was sponsored by Citizens State Bank and went to the “Buffalo Youth Organization.” Bank Vice President Chase Glick presented the award and Youth organization President Mike Kennedy accepted it. Excellence in Buffalo was sponsored by Elizabeth Ferrari of Rachel Anderson Real Estate and the award went to Ms. Parthena Moore. Elizabeth Ferrari made the presentation. The Outstanding Achievement award was sponsored by First Chance Signs and designs, and awarded to Lady Bison Basketball Team of 2016/2017 – Class 3A UIL state runner-up. Presenting the award was Mrs. Samantha Jones, accepting the award was Lady Bison Basketball Coach Mrs. Jozett Jenkins

The tables were decorated with yellow and purple table clothes and had yellow daisy flower arrangements as center pieces made by Patty’s Petals and donated by Ms. Parthena Moore. One very large yellow gladioli arrangement sat center stage and was donated by Patty’s Petals, The Stage was lined with purple daisy‘s with white centers that were made by Bobo’s Nursery.

Door prizes were given away though out the evening. Forty two flower arrangements were given away and various gift cards worth as much as $50.00 each from various merchants around town were given away. The total value of the door prizes was $1,500. Door prize donors were: Americas Best Value Inn, Bobo’s Nursery, Buffalo Chamber of Commerce, Citizens State Bank, Community National Bank, Nappa Auto, Patty’s petals, Ms. Parthena Moore, Super 8 Motel, Wild Bee Removal Service, The Chamber of Commerce would like to publicly say thank you to all businesses who donated door prizes

The Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the corporate sponsors for purchasing their guest tables that seated ten, at a cost of $150.00 per table. Corporate tables were purchased by Citizens State bank (2 tables), Wild Bee Removal Service, Super 8 Motel/ America’s Best Value Inn, Community National Bank, Ms. Parthena Moore, Buffalo Housing Authority, Mrs. Karen Jackson Capio, Tri-County Horse Shoe Club, Buffalo Economic Development Corp.

The Chamber would like to acknowledge everyone who came to the banquet, donated to the banquet and helped set up the banquet. Without their continued help and support the chamber would not be able to serve the community as it does. If I have forgotten or left anyone out I apologize.
