Bison split two games

Sherry’s Shots The Bison dropped a game to Westwood 55-68 but rebounded to defeat Elkhart 66-53. The game against the undefeated district leader, Westwood, was a game that saw the Bison lose but the Bison didn't quit and put forth a good effort. The Westwood Panthers are ranked 5th in the State Polls and deserve the ranking as they have a tall and talented team. Jarrett Fishbeck scored 6 points but the Bison trailed 12-20 after the first quarter. Early in the second quarter the Bison trailed 19-23 but Westwood came alive and the Bison trailed 21-35 at half time. Ryan Rath led the Bison as he hit a 3-pointer to lead the Bison in the second quarter. Rath scored 4 points in the third quarter but the Bison trailed 31-50 with the fourth quarter remaining. The Bison scored 24 points in the final quarter led by Dirk Kilgore who poured in 19 but the deficit was to great and the Bison lost 55-68. The Bison never quit and were playing hard until the end. Stats for the Bison: KIlgore scored 27 points and had 10 rebounds, Rath scored 12 points and had 6 rebounds, Fishbeck scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds, Jamaul Randle scored 4 points and had 3 rebounds, Luis Porras scored 2 points and had 3 rebounds, Timmy Simpson had 2 rebounds, Caleb Ayers had 1 rebound, Lance Pauler had 1 rebound. The Bison JV won their game 33-29 against Westwood.

Sherry’s Shots The Bison traveled to Elkhart for a game on January 26th and came home with a 66-53 win. The Bison had a good start leading 22-12 after the first quarter. The Bison lead expanded to 36- 18 at halftime. The Bison kept the pressure on and led 46-29 after the third quarter and coasted to a 66-53 win. Stats for the Bison: Kilgore scored 28 points and had 4 rebounds, Rath scored 14 points and had 5 rebounds, Randle scored 6 points and had 3 rebounds, Fishbeck scored 6 points and had 9 rebounds, Ayers scored 5 points and had 6 rebounds, Pauler scored 4 points and had 1 rebound, Jacob Simpson scored 2 points and had 1 rebound, Timmy Simpson scored 1 point and had 3 rebounds, Porras had 4 rebounds.

The Bison are currently in 3rd place in District with a 3-5 mark and have 4 games remaining on their schedule. The Bison host Frankston on January 30th and travel to Teague for a game on February 2nd. The Bison have a bye on February 6th before traveling to Malakoff for a game on February 9th and hosting Leon on February 13th for their final District game. The Bison seniors will be honored on February 13th.
