Bison compete in the Buffalo Christmas Tournament

Paul’s Photo The Bison were among 18 teams that competed in the annual Buffalo Christmas Tournament on December 28-30. Teams competing were Iola, Cumberland, Caldwell, Moulton, Leon, Centerville, Buffalo, Lovelady, New Waverly, Cleveland, Mexia, Splendora, Alvarado, Anderson Shiro, Newton, North Zulch, Gateway Prep and CHSM. The Bison faced Lovelady, New Waverly and CHSM in pool play on December 28th. The Bison lost to Lovelady 82-89 in a high scoring competitive game and then defeated New Waverly 57-46 in a slow down low scoring contest. The Bison faced a talented CHSM team in the final game in pool play and lost 54-83. In their game on December 29th the Bison tangled with the Caldwell Hornets and lost 58-66. The game was closer than the final score indicates as the Bison led 21-10 early in the second quarter and still led the Hornets 32-29 at half time. After 3 quarters the game was tied at 48 with the final quarter to be played. The Hornets went on a hot streak in the final 8 minutes scoring 18 points while holding the Bison to 10 and the Bison fell 58-66.

Paul’s Photo The stats for the Bison against Caldwell: Jarrett Fishbeck scored 20 points and had 11 rebounds, Ryan Rath scored 15 points, Jamaul Randle scored 8 points and had 4 rebounds, Dirk Kilgore scored 8 points and had 4 rebounds, Luis Porras scored 3 points and had 5 rebounds, Caleb Ayers scored 2 points and had 1 rebound, Dawson Adams scored 2 points and had 1 rebound.

The Bison are through with tournaments and have 11 district games beginning with the Elkhart Elks coming to Buffalo on January 2nd and the Bison travel to Frankston for a game on January 5th.
