Lady Bison go 3-2 in Centerville Tournament

Paul’s Photo The Lady Bison had a good week as they competed in the Centerville Tournament defeating Troy 65-48, Mart 42-22, Crockett 64-42 and lost to Franklin 35-67 and New Waverly 57-60. The Lady Bison opened the tournament on December 7th as they lost to Franklin 35-67. Franklin has a good team and have some good 3 point shooters.

The Lady Bison got off to a slow start and trailed 10-23 after the first quarter. The Lady Bison trailed 19-34 at the intermission. The deficit was 17 after 3 quarters and the Lady Bison went ice cold in the final quarter scoring only 2 points in the 35-67 loss. Stats for the Franklin game: Samantha Pate scored 16 points, Mollie Dittmar scored 12 points, Taylor Beshears scored 4 points, Kaleigh Rhodes scored 2 points and A'sia Bradley scored 1 point.

The Lady Bison tangled with Troy next and came through with a 65-48 victory. Stats for the Troy game: Dittmar scored 24 points, Rhodes scored 9 points, Samantha Simpson scored 9 points, Beshears scored 8 points, Bradley scored 8 points, Pate scored 6 points and Iris Valles scored 1 point.

The next game was against Mart and the Lady Bison won easily 42-22. Stats for the Mart game: Dittmar scored 13 points, Rhodes scored 9 points, Bradley scored 8 points, Simpson scored 6 points, Yomele Almeida scored 2 points Beshears scored 2 points, Valles scored 2 points. Next up was New Waverly and the Lady Bison lost 57-60 in a rough and close game. Stats for the New Waverly game: Dittmar scored 19 points, Bradley scored 17 points, Pate scored 11 points, Simpson scored 8 points and Rhodes scored 2 points.

Coach JJ Guidry said after the tournament, “I am very proud of our girls. They have played a schedule as tough as any other 3A team in the state, and have continued to improve. They work hard every day and love to compete. We have a very tough district, but we are anxious to get district started. We are excited about this season.” On Saturday December 9th the Lady Bison defeated Crockett 64-42. Stats for the Crockett game: Dittmar scored 26 points (20 in the second half), Pate scored 12 points, Bradley scored 8 points, Rhodes scored 8 points, Simpson scored 6 points, Beshears scored 4 points.

The Lady Bison open district play on December 12th as they travel to Malakoff. The second district game will be in Buffalo as they host Leon on December 15th.
