Insects could be creeping in your Christmas tree
     COLLEGE STATION, Dec. 7, 2017 — During the holiday season, consumers should be aware of unwanted critters that may find their ways into homes by clinging to freshly cut Christmas trees, said Texas A&M University Entomologist David Ragsdale.  “It should be no surprise that when a living plant is brought into the house it has hitchhikers,” Ragsdale said.

Oakwood Community Food Pantry
     The Board of Directors of Oakwood Community Food pantry sponsored their annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Monday, November 27, 2017 at the Dunbar Alumni Community Center. All of the board members brought various dishes to compliment the main entrees of ham and ribs. Food and desserts were plentiful.

     Several members of the Oakwood EE Club attended the District 8 Leadership Training in Belton, Texas at the Bell County Expo Center. Clara Jones, District 8 Director, led the training that was themed “Lead from where you are”.

Leon County 4-H Council Member Spotlight
     Our spotlight this month is on Chelsea Harter of the Buffalo 4-H Club. She is in the 12th grade and has been a member of 4-H for 9 years. She is currently on the Leon County 4-H Council serving as the Recreation officer. As a 4-H member, she has held offices in her club for 6 years and has participated in Food Challenge, Food Show, Fashion, Commercial Heifers, Goats, and the Horse Show.
