Cool weather on Saturday added to Turkey Shoot fun

By Sherry Matney

Ready, aim, fire!
Sherry’s Shots Ready, aim, fire! Sherry’s Shots The day was perfect for a Turkey Shoot on Saturday, November 11, as shooters from far and wide came to try their hand at nabbing a turkey without the feathers and blood. The Lone Star Community Center held it’s annual Turkey Shoot at the Center and was able to fill up 40 rounds with ten shooters each.

The event began at 9:00 a.m. sharp when the group said the “Pledge of Allegiance” and honored the veterans who were in attendance. By the lunch break about 30 turkeys had been handed out.

The final shots rang out around 2:00 p.m. and then it was time for the Raffle drawing. As in years past the prize was a Remington shotgun. This year’s winner was Pat Ellison Williams who happened to be at the Center just in time for the drawing.

The Reagan Horn family is extremely instrumental in making this Turkey Shoot a success and the Center send many, many thanks to Reagan and his family.
