I-45 ramp work to begin in Buffalo this week

LEON COUNTY – Beginning this week, TxDOT’s contractor will start the reconstruction of the west frontage road and relocation of the southbound I-45 exit and entrance ramps. The project will combine the existing I-45 west frontage road and ramp intersections at US 79 into a single signalized intersection. The I-45 exit ramp to US 79 will be relocated approximately 1 mile north and the US 79 entrance ramp to I-45 will be relocated 1.5 miles.

The project was awarded to Big Creek Construction, Ltd. headquartered in Lorena, TX for $8,878,806.51. Estimated completion for construction is late Fall 2018.

The initial plan for construction will not involve working on existing lanes of traffic; however, haul trucks will be entering and exiting the roadway in the project limits along the west frontage. Startup also includes drainage work between the frontage road and I-45 southbound lanes out of the way of the traveling public.

TxDOT would like to remind all motorists who travel this area to obey all warning signs, be alert for workers and equipment, buckle up, and drive safely.
