The Bison only managed to take the lead for the final time deep in the fourth quarter and then added one more TD to come away with the 43-29 victory.

With less than two minutes gone off the game clock, Buffalo was down 9-0, and the Bulldogs were on the move. A determined defense knocked the ball loose and Roberto Garcia jumped on it at the 12. It took the Bison four plays to get into the end zone with Colton Green going the final two yards and Alvaro Sanchez added the kick to close the gap to 9-7 with 7:07 remaining in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs had very little success against the Bison defense from the line of scrimmage, running fewer than 20 plays the first half. All four of the Marlin scores came on big plays. The first was a 54 yard free kick return, then a 90 yard kickoff return, an 86 yard pass play, and a 93 yard pass. Marlin had 19 rushes for 17 yards and 7 complete passes for 217 yards, most of which was on two plays, and an interception. They had 234 yards total from scrimmage.

James Rodell came up big with 19 carries for 142 yards followed by Randle with 5 for 55 yards.

The defense fought hard all night and their stats show the results. Marshall Jonas led with 11 tackles, two for loss, one sack and a fumble recovery. Chase Thompson had 4 tackles of which two were for a loss. Luis Porras had 4 tackles for loss and a sack and Jordan Rogers turned in 4 tackles, one for a loss and a sack. Benito Rivas had a tackle for loss and Jesus Garcia had a sack, two tackles for loss, and caused a fumble. Ryan Rath had a 20 yard interception return.

Buffalo went up to stay just into the final quarter when Green went 12 yards and then added a razzle-dazzle extra point fake kick/pass to Dirk Kilgore for the two points. Green would add the insurance TD with a 62 yard run, weaving through the Marlin defense and into the corner for the score.

The Bison will be at home this week for homecoming against Leon and then have a week off. Come out and enjoy homecoming and help the Bison get to 8-0 and closer to the district championship.
