Ribbon Cutting at new Domestic Violence office
     With October being the official Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Tanya Foster felt it was the perfect time to hold the ribbon cutting for her new office in Buffalo on Tuesday, October 10 she also held an open house for the safe house in Buffalo called Judy’s House.

Deer forecast for Leon County
     This has been a good year for wildlife in Leon County, due to a very mild temperatures this past winter, spring, summer and plenty of rain, the woods have remain green with stuff for them to eat. While conducting night time deer counts in Leon County, Texas Parks and Wildlife reported seeing a very strong fawn crop and bigger and healthier deer than last year.

Scientists seek public assistance in tackling rose rosette disease
     COLLEGE STATION — Halfway through a five-year, $4.6 million grant to combat rose rosette disease in the U.S., the national research team studying it is encouraged by the amount of information learned but admits having a way to go before finding how to overcome the deadly problem.

Stacey Urbanczyk presents LCRTA program
     The Leon County Retired Teachers Association met on Wednesday, September 27, in Centerville at 12:00 pm in the Municipal Building for their monthly meeting.  A luncheon was prepared and served by September hostesses, Eva Bell, Dorothy Bottoms and Birdene Perry.

The National Game of Texas – “42” winners of the Health Fair tournament
     One of the highlights of the Leon County Health Fair, for some local residents, was the opportunity to play a tough game of “Texas 42” in the “42” Tournament. Coming in first and taking home enormous trophies were Mike Wilkinson and Doris Hickman. There were several tables of die-hard players vying for those trophies.
