Sherry’s Shots Bison running back James Rodell (44) gains tough yardage against Bruceville-Eddy. Sherry’s Shots The Bison put their perfect record on the line last week against a very physical and determined Bruceville-Eddy team. A good defense and an early lead kept the season record intact and a 2-0 start in district, with the Bison taking the victory 38-6.

The Eagles had a good possession to start this game but the Bison defense ended the threat with a Jesus Garcia sack and the offense went on a 7 play drive capped with senior running back James Rodell going 13 yards for the score. Francisco Saldana added the Pat for a 7-0 score with 2:49 to play in the first quarter.

With the defense heating up and giving the ball back to the offense, the Bison scored on each of their 5 possessions in the first half. Colton Green and Rodell were doing the work on the ground with Green having 15 carries for 146 yards and 3 TDs while Rodell had 13 carries for 54 yards. The Bison sophomore running back, Jamaul Randle added 11 carries for 70 yards. Green got in the end zone three times on the ground and added another TD via the pass. Rodell got the first score and went on to lead the ground attack. Daniel Rodriguez was on the receiving end of 2 passes for 34 yards, one for a TD.

Sherry’s Shots The offense amassed a total of 340 yards of offense while the defense held the Eagles to 167 total yards. The Bison defense looked like they were ready to take things to the next level with Marshall Jonas again leading with 15 tackles, one for a loss, one sack, and turned in a 51 yard punt.

Chase Thompson was also all over the field, turning in 8 tackles of which 5 were for a loss and 3 sacks. You have to know where Chase is at all times if you are on the other side of the ball. Jordan Rogers also had 8 tackles, with one for a loss. Louis Porras had 3 tackles for loss and a sack. Benito Rivas turned in 2 tfls, and Jesus Garcia 1 tfl. Dirk Kilgore had a 54 yard interception return along with 2 carries for 14 yards.

Bison running back Dirk Kilgore (5) scrambles for a good gain. He missed the second half because of an ankle injury. Sherry’s Shots Bison running back Dirk Kilgore (5) scrambles for a good gain. He missed the second half because of an ankle injury. Sherry’s Shots This victory puts the Bison at 6-0 on the season and more importantly gets them off to a 2-0 record in district play. I am looking for 10-0 and 6-0 and a deep run to the playoffs. Get out to Marlin this week and help the Bison stay undefeated and on track to the district championship. I think we can have more purple and gold on the road than there will be blue.
