Flo Water asked to take over part of Rodell Water System

By Mac Shadix

Steve Torno Steve Torno Steve Torno appeared before the Flo Water board during their regular called meeting on August 17 to ask them to issue a letter of intent to take over that portion of the Rodell Water Supply System that the City of Buffalo is not expected to accept. That is basically 35 to 50 meters of the system that lies South of the railroad tracks. Torno told the Flo Water board that he would pay for all costs associated with the takeover of that part of the system.

The board was told by Operations Manager Mark Collins that the Weedon Plant upgrade would be ready by the middle of September and that Flo Water should be able to provide for that addition to the system.

Collins told the board that the previous month had been a rough month for leaks. He explained to them that temperature was a factor in the strength of the pipes as well as pressure. The board later voted to allow Collins to use a company vehicle to travel home. He explained that he often had to travel extra miles past a trouble site to go to the office and return with the official vehicle with the needed tools.

A budget draft was unanimously approved. An insurance proposal from AIA Insurance Agency was approved at a cost of $20277.20.
