Livestock Show nets $424,625

The Leon County Expo Center was filled with anxious buyers who were generous as they purchased the exhibitor’s show projects. The 2017 premium sale netted a total of $424,625. $397,550 from the premium sale and $27,075 in verbal add-ons.

The volume buyers for 2017 were the Pate Brothers. A big thank you to Steve, Kevin, and Richie Pate, and their continued generous support of the Leon County Youth Livestock Show. 245 exhibitors from across the county came together at the Leon County Expo Center to showcase their livestock projects at the 2017 Leon County Youth Livestock Show. They were rewarded for their hard work at the Premium Auction Sale on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

As the buyers registered, a hospitality tent kicked off the night offering buyers a variety of delicious appetizers, sweets, and drinks catered by Katy Watson of K-S Cakes and More.

This year’s show was dedicated to Buffalo Livestock Marketing, Inc. and The Russ, Ty, and Cody DeCordova Families. They were recognized as longtime supporters of the Leon County Youth Livestock Show.

The graduating seniors from the county were recognized. The 2017 Albert & Elverda Schweinle Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $2,000 was awarded to McKinzie Hamilton, a Centerville FFA member. The Leon County Youth Livestock Show Scholarships are as follows:

$2,000 was presented to Candace McGuire, an Oakwood 4H member. $1,500 was presented to Courtney Clark, a Centerville FFA member, and a scholarship in the amount of $1,250 was presented to Matthew Roach, a Leon 4H member. Scholarships in the amount of $750 were presented to Charlee Cockrell, an Oakwood 4H member, Cody Oden, a Centerville FFA member, McKinzie Hamilton, a Centerville FFA member, Korey Smith, a Centerville FFA member, Natalie Freeman a Buffalo 4H member, Calam Earley a Centerville FFA member, and Trey Landry a member of Normangee FFA.

The Buffalo Press special Leon County Youth Livestock Show edition is included in this issue.
