The Leon County Sheriff’s office served a search warrant on Carl Walther’s residence off FM 1452. The Wednesday, January 28th search resulted in recovering numerous items stolen during burglaries and oil field thefts. Items stolen from the burglaries had been installed in the suspect’s residence for his use that included a stainless steel kitchen sink.  More...

Joe Ernest Brotherton died Saturday, January 24, 2015 in Fairfield, Texas. Joe was born to William Ernest Brotherton and Sarah Jewel (Walker) Brotherton on January 17, 1916 in Jewett, Texas. He attended school in Jewett and graduated from High School there in 1934. He was married to Chloe Huffman in 1937 at Teague, Texas. Joe served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  More...
The first annual Sportsmen's Banquet was held on January 31st at the First Baptist Church of Buffalo. The menu included deer, elk, hog, quail, cornish hens, and venison chili. Men and boys were invited to the feast. Many door prizes were given away including a Kimber 84 L .270 Win Walnut Stock rifle and a Cannon 20 gun safe.  More...

The Buffalo Bison hosted Onalaska on January 27th and squeaked by 46-41. The Bison started quickly as they led 13-2 after the 1st quarter sparked by Rhett Kilgore’s 7 points. The lead was cut to 6 after the 2nd quarter and the lead remained at 6 after the 3rd quarter as Buffalo led 33- 27 with the 4th quarter to be played.  More...
