Centerville ISD proposes new tax rate
     The Centerville ISD Board of Trustees held its regular meeting on August 7, 2014 with all members present.  One of the primary issues covered was the proposed tax rate of $1.35, up from the pre- vious amount of $1.04. The rate is broken up into M&O (Maintenance & Operations) $.1.04 and I&S (Interest & Sinking) .31 to give the $1.35 total.

Local 4-H’ers win at State 4-H Record Book Judging
     Recordkeeping is a very valuable skill taught to members of the Texas 4-H program. Members are encouraged to keep project records and have these records reviewed annually by submitting a Texas 4-H Recordbook.

New Master Gardeners class began August 1st
     The Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service in Leon County began a new class for Master Gardeners on August 1st. Participants become certified Master Gardeners after they have completed the training course and fulfilled their volunteer commitment.

Buffalo Police Report
     Officer Pate was contacted regarding a missing person. Officer along with DPS and LCSO Deputies searched the area until subject was located and returned to her home.  Officer Pate to Cedar Creek for possible animal cruelty. Animal had ventured into the street and been run over. Cleared as unfounded.

Leon County Sheriff’s Report
     07/30/14 Donnie Mordecai responded to FM 542 for the report of trespassing. Omar Cantu was dispatched to CR 456 for the report of a welfare concern. to Centerville for the report of a suspicious person. Don Craft responded to Buffalo for the report of a welfare concern.

Sheriffs’ Association of Texas holds 136th Annual Training Conference
     Sheriff Kevin Ellis, Lieutenant Skip Young and Investigator Wayne Sallee recently attended the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas 136th Annual Training Conference at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, July 26-29, 2014. Over 1,500 were in attendance.
