Following opening ceremonies of the Leon County Commissioners Court, on January 13, 2014, Judge Byron Ryder asked for prayer for the families of Kathy Pierce and Steve Milligan, both who died recently. Pierce is a wellknown teacher and Child Protective Agency Board member who has fought breast cancer for many years. Milligan was the Normangee Chief of Police who died suddenly last week.  More...

Lee “Coach” Snider 81, of Neches passed away Friday, January 10th . He was born to the late John Henry and Jewel Snider, April 15, 1932, in Keechi, TX. He attended Keechi schools before the school district consolidated with Buffalo ISD in the late 1940s. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1949.  More...

MILANO – Even though parts of Texas have received beneficial rainfall, experts urge cattle producers to be cautious when thinking about restocking herds.  Dr. Larry Redmon, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service state forage specialist, told beef producers at the recent Central Texas Cow- Calf Clinic in Milano that 71 percent of the state is abnormally dry.  More...
