Photo by Melissa Missildine The Oakwood Panthers hosted Wells last Friday night. The Pirates were in for a surprise if they thought they were going to do any plundering and pillage away the win. No, that treasure was retained by the Panthers with a score of 93-38.

Damiyne Durham's scoring alone nearly sunk the Pirates. He had 31 points with 12 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals, and a block. Add to that Jacquez Anderson's 25 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, 4 steals, and one block, and you have yourself a landslide! But, that was not enough for the Panthers. Dominique Johnson saw fit to add another 16 points to the scoreboard and had 9 rebounds, an assist, and 4 steals. Jordan Hawkins had 11 points with 7 rebounds, and a couple of steals. Austin Shuptrine got a bucket with a rebound, Tony Maldonado had a rebound, and Shaquille Robinson had 3 rebounds.

The Varsity Panthers took control at the Grapeland tournament as well. On Thursday they beat Elkhart 78-49 but lost to Grapeland 74-91. They came back on Friday and took Lovelady 70-53 but gave it up to Madisonville 66-77. Saturday they took on the Westwood Panthers and took the win 86-72.

You can catch the Varsity Panthers in action this Tuesday night at home against the Apple Springs Eagles, right after the Junior Varsity Game.
