Sherry’s Shots Leon County Commissioner David Ferguson was excited and appreciative of Lauren Powers and Stynette Clary, from Marquez, who presented the Expo Center with a gift of $1,000 from the City of Marquez and $1,000 from the Marquez Economic Development Corporation.

During the Leon County Commissioners Court Ferguson gave an update on the status of the Expo Center. The electrical system is in place and the Court approved an expenditure of $96,000 for 1500 galvanized steel bleachers with aluminum seats.

Judge Byron Ryder announced a fundraiser for the Expo Center that will take place on October 19 at 7:30 p.m. The price of admission is $10 but additional donations will gladly be accepted.

Parthena Moore has organized this event which will host Country Music singers Claude Gray, Curtis Potter and Lisa Layne. Gray, who lives in Henderson, is known for several County Classics, such as “I’ll just have a cup of coffee”, “If I ever need a lady”, and “Rocking my memories”.

Potter is promoted as singing a lot like Ray Price and Layne is a Patsy Cline imitator.

Country Cousins, from Centerville, will have their famous barbecue available for purchase and Tommy Pearce will head up the Leon County Line band. Have a “Leon County Good Time.”
