The Oakwood Lady Panthers came to town on Tuesday, August 27th. OHS has only a varsity team so the JV Lady Bison were off. BHS won the first two sets decisively, 25-5, 25-9. OHS started pulling things together in the final set but BHS held them off to win that one as well, 25-18.

On Friday BHS hosted Hearne. Play opened with the varsity teams and HHS brought a team of strong athletes with some very good servers. The Lady Bison brought their “A” game, though, and dominated throughout.

In the first set, Allison “AG” Grissett was on fire with lots of kills and Karina Sotelo did a good job of keeping the ball in play as BHS won 25-17. Buffalo led throughout Set Two and won 25-14. Taylor Rutledge shined at the service line in Set Three, reeling off several aces in a row as the Lady Bison took an 18-11 lead. Shelby Ballard served out as the Lady Bison won the set 25-17 and took the victory.

The JV girls also defeated Hearne. Buffalo took the first set 25-13, then let Hearne slip and take the second, 18-25. The Lady Bison came back with a 25-16 win in the final set to take the game.

Coach Daryl Skelton commented, “I believe this was our best week. We are starting to cut out some of the little mistakes that are keeping us from being a good team. And they’re having fun together.” THIS WEEK:

The JV and Varsity Lady Bison will have their hands full this week when they travel to Madisonville on September 3rd. Skelton predicts, “It will be a good measuring stick for us.” The junior varsity game begins at 5:00.
