Sherry’s Shots It was a rough first week but Diana Neel has survived her very first school budget! It could not be easy coming into this thing at the end of preparing the budget but she took it in stride. Her coworkers at OISD are glad to have her on board.

Neel is originally from Houston but moved to East Texas when she was fifteen years old. Her family is from Elkhart. She graduated from TVCC with her Business degree and went to work at Palestine Regional Medical Center in Palestine. While working at the hospital, she met a Paramedic named Mark Neel. They fell in love, got married, and moved to Oakwood. They have a son, Logan who is two, and a daughter Emma who is in Pre-K at Oakwood Elementary. Mark also has a daughter in Junior High, Tori. Diana is very close to her step-daughter.

For the last two years, Neel has been working at Physicians Services in Medical Coding and Business. When the Business Manager position opened up at OISD, she was very excited. This means she gets to work just a couple of blocks from home. She cannot wait for the first pep rally of the year. She finally gets to go to one! She has missed not getting to go to things like that during the day. They bring the commu- nity together. Neel says, "I'm not from Oakwood but, I feel like it's my home. I really like the community." Now, she will get to spend more time with her Oakwood friends and family while helping to keep the school her children attend running smoothly...talk about a win-win situation!
