Monday night's meeting of the Buffalo City Council was attended by several groups and individuals and most left with a sense of frustration and no answers. There was a quorum present, lacking councilmembers Dianne Ryder and Jerry Salazar, but the council is not required to respond to presentations made during the public comments section of the agenda, and may not take action on those items.  More...

Debbie Porter joins the BHS teaching staff as the Albegra II teacher for 2013-14. She will also teach one Math Models course.  Mathis, Texas was Ms. Porter’s hometown and after high school she attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a twirler. State Representative Trent Ashby (R-Lufkin) has signed on to an amicus brief on the issue of protection of religious liberty. The lawsuit in question was filed by a group of parents in 2003 to enforce their children's rights under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act to bring certain gifts to a public schoolsponsored Christmas party.  More...
The Varsity and JV Bison scrimmaged at Franklin on Thursday, August 22, wrapping up their pre-season schedule.  The Bison looked good in the first series against the Lions, who are a Top Ten rated team in the early polls. QB Logan Jones had a 25-yard scramble and Adam Simpson had two good carries of 15+ yards. Neither team was able to score with the first units on the field.  More...
