Late Saturday afternoon, there was a horrific accident on Highway 79 just inside Oakwood near the old feed store/liquor store. The face is not new but the place certainly is. When the elementary kids begin classes this year their principal will have a different look. Dottie Rodell Sullivan has been in the process of moving into the principal’s office for a couple of months and it will soon feel like home. Jonathan (Jonny) Bryan Childers, 15, of Fairfield, Texas passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 in Fairfield. Funeral services were held 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Pruitt officiating. Pallbearers were Drew Garcia, Tayton Noyse, Cole Beddingfield, Ty Bachtel, Jeremy Wood and Cooper Gawryuszewski. Jonny was born November 7, 1997 in Ft. Worth, Texas.  More...

The Lady Bison stepped up their game last week and took third place in the Silver Bracket at the Fairfield Invitational Volleyball Tournament held August 15 and 17.  In pool play on Thursday BHS lost to Fairfield 14-25, 16-25. They then defeated Ennis in three, 25-18, 20-25, 29-27. In their third game the Lady Bison lost to Ingram Tom Moore 31-33, 15-25.  More...
