On 5/1/2013 at about 4:00 p.m. Trooper Joel Smith pulled a grey passenger vehicle over on I-45 Northbound at about the 161 mile post. The driver of the vehicle, Brandon Williams, age 29, fled into the woods off I-45 near the Lake Wood Addition. Trooper Smith apprehended the passenger of the vehicle, Reginald Crawford (age 55) and recovered about a pound of marijuana from the vehicle.  More...

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Duke, Jr., 79, were held on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at 2:00p.m. at Ephesus Baptist Church near Jewett. Bro. Ray Payne officiated. Serving as pallbearers were Ronnie Roberts, James Duke, Carrie Sunkes, Jesse Duke, Charlie Sunkes, John Sunkes, David Wayne King, and Tyler Sunkes.
