Bison men dominate 14AA track meet
     The Bison men carried the big stick -- both baton and metaphorically -- at the District 14-AA Track Meet held in Riesel last week, with both the Varsity and JV men winning their respective divisions by a large margin. The Lady Bison, despite being a small team, also qualified one individual and one relay team to advance to area.

Lady Bison still working on their game
     The young Lady Bison softball team gave district opponent Rice a run for their money in a good game on the road on April 5, before falling 11-9. Pitcher Allison Grace Grissett had a good game on the mound, and made an unassisted double play when she caught a liner and picked off the RHS runner before she could get back to first.

Bison split in last week’s games
     The Bison baseball team gave notice that they are capable of big things with a 20-3 victory over Rice last Tuesday. Freshman Bryce Pauler was on the mound for Buffalo in the road game, and he threw 7 strikeouts in five innings in the abbreviated contest. The Bison bats were hot and hits were led by Logan Jones and Kyrell Miller with triples and Clayton McGill with a double.

Ferguson earns All-State Academic recognition
     Kylan Ferguson, a multisport four-year letterman for BHS, has been selected a member of TGCA and TABC All-State Academic teams. She was also selected for the Azalea Orthopedics All-Star Game, but opted out of that competition due to a scheduling conflict with prom.  Kylan is the daughter of Pam and Ernie Ferguson.

LHS Cougars lose to state-ranked Bremond
     The Leon Cougars were blanked 11-0 by state-ranked Bremond and also failed to get a hit in the six-inning game. Dennis Smith tossed 2-1/3 innings, Tyler Morris pitched 3-1/3 innings and Drake Jones came on to get the final out in the 6th inning.

Lady Tigers score 28 runs but lose two games
     The Centerville Lady Tigers were able to score runs in bunches but lost to New Waverly 13-16 and Onalaska 15-19. The Tigers hosted New Waverly on April 9th and scored 5 runs in the first and 4 in the second inning and led 9-5 after two innings. New Waverly scored 1 in the third, 3 in the fourth and 4 in the fifth inning to take a 13-11 lead with the Tigers batting in the bottom of the fifth.

Hilltop Lakes Golf News
     WGA results for April 11th  Due to the miserable cold weather, the WGA play day was canceled. Next week's game for the 9-Hole Ladies and the 18-Hole Ladies will be "ACES". Tee time is 9:00 a.m. Please sign up by noon on April 17. A general meeting is slated for 8:30 a.m. MGA results for April 10th

Young Lady Cougars suffer a 0-17 loss
     The young Leon Lady Cougars had a rough outing against Bremond and were handed a 0-17 loss. The Cougars managed only a single by Madison Kennedy in the 2nd inning. Bremond scored 2 in the first, 8 in the 2nd and 7 in the 3rd for their 17 runs. Danyal Coulter pitched the complete game for the Cougars.

     With the Buffalo track meet behind them, the Oakwood High School Boys Track Team is headed to District with a strong team.

Tigers sweep two and remain tied for 1st place
     The Centerville Tigers defeated New Waverly 6-5 and Onalaska 8-3 to remain tied for the district lead with Trinity with 9-2 records. The Tigers hosted New Waverly on April 9th and after 2 scoreless innings the Tigers came up with 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd utilizing 2 singles and a pass ball to score 3 times.

Lady Tigers win their 5th straight District Track Championship
     The Centerville Lady Tigers showed their power in track as they scored 176 points and are sending several individuals and relay teams to the Area Meet at Groveton on April 20th.

Bison Belles do well in Fiesta Texas Showtime competition
     The Bison Belle Drill Team traveled to San Antonio this weekend to compete in the Fiesta Texas Showtime International Dance Contest along with 21 other public high schools, various middle schools, and dance companies. The Belles toured the river walk and visited the Alamo as a group on Friday night. Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m.

Leon Varsity boys, girls take first in district
     The Leon Cougars showed their strength with their showing at the district track meet at Leon on April 11th by scoring 195 points. The top four places in the events will advance to the Area Track Meet at Axtell on April 17th.
