Tragedy AND Comedy--in one afternoon
     The theatrical extremes of Comedy and Tragedy were both exemplified on Sunday afternoon when the high school fine arts departments of Buffalo and Leon performed their respective One Act Plays for their communities. Both shows were presented at the BHS auditorium and theater patrons enjoyed a dessert buffet in between.

     The parents of Allison Layne Dawson and Tanner Brent Self are pleased to announce their engagement and approaching marriage. Allison’s parents are Butch Dawson and Julie Dawson of Buffalo, Texas. Tanner’s parents are Brent and Sharon Self of Dimmitt, Texas. The bride’s maternal grandparents are Curtis and Betty Beard of Buffalo, Texas.

At Home Healthcare representative presented March program to LCRTA
     The Leon County Retired Teachers met Wednesday, March 27, in Centerville at the Municipal Building. The monthly luncheon was served by March hostesses; Eva Bell, Pat Bohannan, Bobbye Bullock, and Lavern Manning. Easter and spring decorations covered the tables throughout the room.

     The Centerville City Council held its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. Mayor N.R. Goolsby called the meeting to order with three members present and two absent.

Leon County Sheriff’s Report
     03/27/13 Tommy Page and Bart Dorman responded to Centerville for the report of loose livestock. Tommy Page and Bart Dorman assisted Centerville Volunteer Fire Department, EMS and DPS with a one vehicle roll-over on I-45 near Centerville. Sharon Williams responded to Buffalo for the report of threats.

Randy Bumpers Memorial Hog Hunt continues to be a big draw
     The 4th Annual Randy Bumpers Memorial Hog Hunt took place this weekend at Jack Hays ranch, just off of FM 831. Festivities began on Friday night with a show by Push Water. Hunting began at 12:00 on Friday night and continued until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Oakwood Team wins Nucor Hoop’n for a Cure tournament for second year
     The Nucor Hoop'n for a Cure 3 on 3 is just one of many fundraisers by the steel company to raise money for the Relay for Life. Travis Bynum's, an employee at Nucor, entered a team in last year's tournament and took first place. Bynum, along with Shak Jenkins, and two of Oakwood High School's top athletes, Seniors Damiyne Durham and Shaquille Caldwell took home the win again this year.
