Friends of Fort Boggy - Monday, April 15, 2013. Centerville ISD Elementary cafeteria, 6:00 p.m. Everyone interested in saving and building Fort Boggy State Park is invited.

All Leon County 4-H members wishing to show lamb, goat or swine projects at the State Fair of Texas in 2013 need to order tags by contacting the Texas Agrilife Extension Service at 903.536.2531 by April 15, 2013. Each tag will cost $10.00 and the tags will not be ordered until payment is received.

The Buffalo Chapter of AARP meets the third Tuesday of the month -- which falls on Tuesday, April 16. Join us at noon for potluck luncheon, and enjoy a friendly game of bingo. Chapter members are reminded to bring a small prize for bingo and a non-perishable item for the Lord’s Pantry.

Volunteers are needed for the Buffalo Public Library summer reading program. The program will be held on Wednesdays, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM beginning June 19th and ending July 17th. If you would like to volunteer for one day or the entire session, please contact Chris at 979-578-2779.

Congressman Kevin Brady Leon County Office Hours - Congressman Kevin Brady’s staff have begun holding office hours in Leon County on the first Thursday of every month. Caseworker Vita Swarers will be at the Ward Memorial Library at 207 E. St. Mary in Centerville from 2p – 4p on the first Thursday of every month to assist people with federal agency issues including Veterans cases, Social Security, Medicare and more. The Congressman’s Huntsville and Conroe offices are open Monday – Friday from 8a-5p and can be reached toll free at 1-877- 441-5700.

Come out to Fort Boggy State Park on Saturday’s and Sunday’s, to fish for Rainbow Trout. Fort Boggy is located approximately 7 miles south of Centerville on Hwy 75; and open from 8:00 am until sundown. Bring the family and take advantage of Trout fishing in your State Park close to home.

Davis Chapel Church - Prayer every 3rd Saturday of each month, 10:00 a.m. Come and pray with Pastor Elder Anthony W. Harris. Administrator: Lula Woodson.

Leon County Military Families and Blue Star Mothers meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at various locations. If you are interested in joining us please call Connie Hall @ 903-208-0253 for location of meeting place for the month.

The newly-formed OAKWOOD COMMUNITY HELPING HANDS CLUB has established that their meetings will be on the second Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. in the annex of the Methodist Church in Oakwood. Lone Star Patriots of Leon County’s monthly meeting is held on the 4th Thursday.

Special Prayer Meeting - Each Thursday 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Hiway Tabernacle Church of God, Highway 75 South.

Flo Volunteer Fire Department meets the first Thursday of each month for their monthly business meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Oakwood now has an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting place. The old Henry Chapel Church, on the corner of Moody and River Bend Road (1 block off Main St. before the 542/831 split), now houses AA meetings Monday- Friday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 10 a.m..
