Ashlyn Duck gets ready to hop on over to the Livestock Show
     Ashlyn Duck is a Freshman at Oakwood High School. She has lived in Oakwood, just down the road from her grandparents, Curtis and Sue Duck, and gone to OISD her whole life. She is the youngest of three daughters born to Jay and Becky Duck and is following in the footsteps of her two older sisters, Chelsie and Tory who both graduated from Oakwood High School in recent years.

First Baptist Church
     Over Spring Break, nine youth and two youth workers from went on a short mission trip. They worked with Mission Arlington a mission organization in Arlington, Texas. While there, they helped with a variety of projects. They led a Bible study for the children in an apartment complex one afternoon.

THSRA High School Rodeo Update
     The Leon County high school rodeo athletes competed in Texas High School Rodeo Association (THSRA) Region 9 Rodeos #8 and #9 in Caldwell on February 2-3, #10 in Crockett on February 17 and #11 on March 3rd in Groesbeck. Their 2012-13 season will wrap up with the Regional Finals rodeo and awards banquet in Huntsville this coming Saturday, March 23th.

Honor Students get special treats on Friday
     Students at the Upper Junior High campus who achieved Honor Roll status were treated to pizza and ice cream on Friday at lunchtime. All A honor students received both pizza and ice cream and A/B Student enjoyed ice cream.

Fun at the Flo Jamboree
     It’s been almost a year since the last Flo Jamboree but this one, on Saturday March 16th, was a roaring success. Phillip Brown and his band from Leona intermittently entertained the crowd of 150 throughout the evening, while talent scattered from around the state played and sang during the “open mic” sessions.

Community National Bank & Trust of Texas continues expansion
     Corsicana, Texas - K.C. Wyatt, President and CEO of Community National Bank & Trust of Texas, announced today the bank has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire First State Bank of Mineral Wells. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and the acquisition is expected to be finalized in the second quarter of 2013. First State Bank has assets of approximately $125 million.
