Leon County Grand Jury returns seven indictments
     Whitney T. Smith, District Attorney met with the Leon County Grand Jury members February 21, 2013 and presented nine cases of crimes alleged to have occurred in Leon County, for their review. An indictment (true bill) was returned on seven cases, two cases were passed.

Bobby Threet killed in truck accident
     Bobby Threet (72) of Buffalo, was killed in a single vehicle accident on Thursday morning, February 28. Driving for Kent Trucking in Dew, Threet was driving a 1996 freight liner and towing a trailer. He was alone in the truck, and westbound on Highway 84 to pick up a load of gravel.

TEEA holds Education Day in Leona
     On Tuesday, February 26, 2013 the Texas Extension Education Association (TEEA) of Leon presented their annual “Education Day” at the Leona Community Center in Leona, TX. Decorations for the tables of red, white and blue with votive candles honoring our country were prepared by the Leona- Centerville EE Club.
