Centerville ISD Board approves administrators contracts
     The Centerville Independent School District held its regular meeting on February 20, 2013 with four Board members present. Absent were Tuffy Loftin, Joe Langley and Tommy Neyland. Priortothemeetingaapublic hearing was held in the Junior-Senior High library to discuss the Academic Excellence Indicator System and the NCLB Report Card.

Madisonville police officer indicted in public corruption case
     MADISONVILLE – A Madison County grand jury today indicted a local peace officer on public corruption and narcotics charges related to a scheme to plant methamphetamine on an innocent person. Madisonville Police Department Officer Jeffrey A. Covington, 37, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, obstruction or retaliation, and official oppression.

Early Spanish Missions in Texas
     The members of the Colonel George Dashiell Chapter, DAR, at their meeting on February 21, were treated to a very informative program on the Early Spanish Missions in Texas. Mrs Nancy Page, member of the Capt. John McAdams DAR Chapter in Madisonville was the guest speaker. She presented a slide show with illustrations of the missions from as far back as the mid-1600's.

Close encounter of the twister type
     Bet you've said these words to your kids: "Your room looks like a TORNADO hit it! Get in there and clean it up!" I've said it, and I now owe my kids an apology. A tornado actually DID touch down on our property last week, and the resulting mess is considerably worse than those mildly dishevelled rooms. And the clean up process is -- literally -- a pain.
