Assistance available for plugging of deteriorated water wells
     The Mid-East Texas Groundwater Conservation District currently has budgeted funds available to assist landowners with the cost associated with plugging abandoned or deteriorated water wells. Under this program, the District may provide up to $500 reimbursement for wells plugged after September 1, 2012.

Oakwood Ag Dept. Update
     As many already may know, Oakwood has a new Ag teacher, Anna Milstead. She is working hard to beef up the Ag Department, as well as the FFA program. She has big plans for both, and has high hopes that the community will back her up every step of the way. Here are a few of the plans she has in place.

Health discussion group to meet
     (CENTERVILLE, TX) – On Friday, March 1, 2013 at 12 p.m. at the Annex II Great Room, the Agrilife Extension Agency and the Center for Community Health Develop- ment (CCHD) in the Texas A&M Health Science Center will host a community discussion group for the fourth local health assessment across the Brazos Valley.

Leon County Cache Dash 2013 kickoff event
     (Centerville, TX)— The Leon County Health Resource Commission will host a kickoff event for the first annual Leon County Cache Dash at 9:00 a.m. on February 23rd at Fort Boggy State Park. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The kickoff will launch a four-week competition for residents across Leon County to see who can find the most hidden “caches,” or treasure.
