In a road trip to Mildred on Tuesday, the JV Bison had a great night at the line on their way to a victory over the Eagles. Buffalo led after one quarter 10-6, but the Eagles had tied things up at halftime, 18-all. The Bison poured in 25 points in the third period and finished strong for the win, 55-46. Fourteen points at the free-throw line (88%) made a deciding impact on the outcome of the game.

Josue Roldan led the scoring with 17 points, followed by O.T. Garcia with 13. Layne Shelton added 9, Paul Mata 8, and George Holguin 6.

The Bison hosted the Marlin Bulldogs on Friday, and the BHS guys had their hands full. After jumping out to a 22-13 halftime lead, the Bison lost focus in the third quarter. Buffalo went stone cold from the field and turnovers contributed to an 8-point run by the Bulldogs as they closed the gap to only 3 points going into the final period. Both teams cranked up their game a notch in the fourth, and things got pretty physical. Shelton, Garcia, Mata and Holguin teamed up for 10 steals in the final 8 minutes, and the Bison held the Bulldogs at bay and won by three, 42-39.

BHS capitalized on 14 of 26 opportunities (54%), including 7 of 8 for Shelton who, along with Garcia, led the scoring with 15 points. Also scoring for BHS were Mata (6), Roldan (4) and Holguin (2).

This week the Bison wrap up their 2012-13 season with road games at Riesel Tuesday (February 5th) and at Teague on the Friday (February 8th.)
