JV Lady Bison pound opponents
     In Junior Varsity action, the Lady Bison rolled over Rice on Tuesday. Kendall Lee led the BHS effort with 22 points, plus rebounds and steals. Rachel Sullivan had a big night with 9 points and steals. Angeles Valles-Villa scored 8 points and pulled down severa rebounds. Karina Sotello added 5 points and steals, and Jacie Jones had a pair of buckets.

     The Leon Lady Cougars suffered losses at the hand of the Slocum Mustangs 68- 50 on January 15th and the Lovelady Lions 69-36 in district action.

OHS Panthers hold onto district lead
     The Oakwood Varsity Panthers have been looking forward to a rematch against the Laneville Yellow Jackets ever since the first time they were up against each other back in December. That game was pretty close and some felt it could have gone either way but Panthers brought home the win that day and were determined to win on their home court this past Friday night as well.

Leon Cougars suffer loss to the Normangee
     The Leon Cougars paid a visit to Normangee on January 22nd and in a hard fought district contest lost by a 32- 44 score. The Cougars trailed by 4 after the 1st quarter but rallied and were behind by 1 at intermission. After 3 quarters the score was close but the Cougars trailed by 2 with 1 quarter remaining.

Lady Tigers defeat Franklin 9-5 in the “Big Freeze”
     The Centerville Lady Tigers and the Franklin Lady Lions met in Centerville in their first district game on January 4th. During the game Tiger post Candace West scored 30 points on fast breaks and the Tigers won convincingly 67- 49. Lion coach, John Shelton changed his approach in the rematch played on January 25th in Franklin.

OJHS hosts Leon in last home game
     The Oakwood Junior High boys and girls hosted Leon for their last home game of the season. Bobbye Freeman's bucket was the only points scored for the Lady Panthers in the girls' game making it a 2-35 loss to the Lady Cougars.

CHS Tigers suffer two setbacks in district action
     The Centerville Tigers hit the road twice and were treated rudely by their hosts. With three losses the Tigers are now in a dog fight to make the playoffs.  On January 22nd the Tigers traveled to Trinity and were defeated 69-61. Jamal High tossed in 15 points and Tulley Pickens and Ryan Payne added 13 each.
