Lady Bison fall to Teague
     The Varsity Lady Bison hosted the Teague Lionettes in a rematch on Tuesday night. Their first meeting had gone into overtime and everyone knew that the game should be another exciting contest.

Varsity Bison corralled by Teague
     The Varsity men had a frustrating night at home on Tuesday as the Teague Lions roared in and handed the Bison a 39-64 loss, making it a sweep for THS.  The Bison battled well through the first half and trailed by only 3 going into the locker. Bryce Pauler was the only Bison connecting in the second half though, and the Lions pulled away to win by 25.

JV men drop first district game
     The JV men opened strong against a talented Teague team, and led 22-19 after one quarter. The Lions had pulled ahead by 10 at halftime, 31-41. The Bison played hard and outscored their opponents in the second half but could not make up the deficit and lost 61-70.

Throwback game throws Panthers into 1st Place
     The Oakwood Panther Pride took the court Friday night in a slightly different fashion...fashion from the 90's that is. In this "Throwback" game, the boys wore the bright golden yellow jerseys of the past for their warm up session. It was a sight to see for sure! After warm up, the boys slipped into the locker room and slipped into their own jerseys.

JV Lady Bison lose to THS
     The Junior Varsity Lady Bison had their hands full at home on Tuesday. Tabitha Calhoun anchored the first half scoring with 8 points, but the Buffalo girls trailed 16- 22 at halftime. Kendall Lee stepped up her game in the second half but the Lionettes pulled away to hand BHS a 30-45 loss.

Oakwood Lady Panthers out-played by Chireno Lady Owls in district
     The Lady Panther hosted the Chireno Lady Owls last Friday night. The Owls flew away with a one-sided victory, 61-19.  Candace Hudson picked up five baskets and three free throws in this game to lead the Oakwood effort. Jasmine Willis scored a bucket, as did Ashlyn Duck and Morgan Mulson.

Two wins put Tigers alone in Second Place
     The Centerville Tigers knocked off Hearne and Hempstead in district games last week to grab second place in district behind the undefeated Franklin Lions. The Tigers defeated the Hearne Eagles on January 15th and were victorious over the Hempstead Bobcats 52- 40 in Centerville on January 18th.

CHS’ Lady Tigers remain perfect in District competition
     The Centerville Lady Tigers defeated the Hearne Lady Eagles 81-27 and the Hempstead Lady Cats 78- 30 to remain on top of the district with a 9-0 mark and pushed their season record to 21-5. On January 18th the Tigers hosted the Lady Eagles and had an easy game as they sprinted to a 28-3 lead after the 1st quarter and led 46-7 at half time.

THSRA Action
     Leon County rodeo athletes competing in Texas High School Rodeo Association (THRSA) Region 9 partipated in Rodeos #6 and #7 on January 19 and 20 at Crockett. Local athletes are enjoying good success at the half-way point of the THRSA season.
