The Buffalo Bison travelled to Groesbeck on Tuesday, December 4th. Hitting well from beyond the arc and improving their percentage at the charity line, the Bison logged a big win to improve their season record to 6-1.

The Bison doubled up on the Goats in the first quarter (14-7) and the second quarter was pretty even so BHS went into the locker room up by 5, 29-24. Senior Tate Hartley had the hot hand in the third and Tyler Adams poured in threes in the fourth quarter as Buffalo pulled ahead and went on to win 70-48.

Freshman Bryce Pauler led all scorers with 22 points, which included three treys. Adams had 16 points, and Hartley had 15 -- including four three-pointers. Also scoring for BHS were Cain Hays (6), Travis Cunningham (6), Cameron Hughes (4) and Jacob Davis (2). The Bison hit 13 of 20 free throws (65%). CENTERVILLE TOURNAMENT

The Tigers were up by 15 at halftime (20-35). BHS played them evenly in the second half but were never able to make up the early deficit and lost 49-65. Adams led his team with 19 points, followed by Pauler (15), Logan Jones (9) and J.J. Kolb (6).

Game Two on Friday afternoon pitted the Bison against a visiting team from Australia. The Magpies were touring in the USA on what is their “summer” and scheduled tournament play in several places. The Bison were on their game and schooled the visitors with a 87-28 win, but it was a fun game and the teams gathered together for a photo op afterwards. (See photo, page 8D).

Bison in double figures included Adams (20 plus 10 rebounds), J.J. Kolb (15, including three 3-pointers), Jones (14) and Hartley (10). Also scoring for BHS were Pauler, Hays, Cunningham, Trent Martin, Hughes and Davis. Reid Courmier had a big night on the boards.

Buffalo’s tournament play ended on a sour note when they were defeated by Centerville 77-49. Pauler was the Bison’s top scorer with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Tyler Adams had 10 points and 10 rebounds, followed by Kolb with 8 points and 6 rebounds. Coach Land stated, “Centerville quickly jumped on us and we just never got back in the game. We play them again (this) Friday and we definitely expect a different outcome.”

That game between the Bison and Tigers will be Friday 12/14 at the BHS gym, with JV action beginning at 5:00 p.m. BHS also hosts Rogers on Tuesday, 12/11.
