“Fine Arts Christmas Blowout” rocks the house at bhs

Van’Go’photo A chorus of “Noel” got the BHS Christmas show off to a good start on Monday evening. Van’Go’photo The Fine Arts Department at Buffalo High School pulled off a little Christmas miracle on Monday night, putting together a delightful show with something for everyone.

The event kicked off at 5:30, and guests got into the holiday spirit by enjoying refreshments and activities for youngsters. Santa was on hand for pictures. Members of the art department and FCCLA classes had created ornaments and other holiday items, some of which were for sale and others were raffle prizes. The winners were announced during intermission.

At 7:00 p.m. the crowd was ushered into the BHS auditorium for the "Fine Arts Christmas Blowout" -- a variety show that included holiday music, skits, comedy and dance. Participants included members of the BHS Theatre, the High School and Beginner Bands, and Bison Belles. Some BHS alumni were even "home for Christmas" and got in on the act.

The evening was a nice mix of serious and silly. There were some talented performers and some brave ones with good intentions, but the Holiday Spirit was evident in every act. Kudos to the kids and a tip o' the hat to the performing arts directors Jeff Villareal, Amanda Harter and Jill Henson.
