Three injured in IH-45 rollover

by Vanessa Goodwyn

A two-vehicle accident involving a van and an eighteen wheeler sent three people to hospitals on Monday morning, June 4.

Florida traveller Yilmer Jimenez and his passengers Chris Rivera and Norlan Robleto Valle were northbound in the van several miles south of Buffalo on I-45. According to the DPS report by Corporal Kevin Gaskin, Jimenez (24) fell asleep at the wheel, drifted and side-swiped a big rig driven by Jose Lopez of Miami. The impact caused the van to flip, coming to rest in the center median of the interstate.

Jimenez was life-flighted to Waco's Scott & White Hospital, and his condition was not known at press time on Tuesday. Rivera and Robleto Valle were taken by ambulance to Madisonville where they were treated at the ER.
