BHS hosts powerlifting meet
     Buffalo High School hosted the Buffalo Invitational Powerlifting Meet on Saturday, February 18 at the BHS gym. BHS and BJHS students, coaches and members of the community pitched in to staff the event, which had 175 participants from 18 schools throughout the area. Each lifter competed in squat, bench and deadlift.

Bison’s long season comes to an end
     The sophomore-laden Bison basketball team wrapped up a long and frustrating season by hosting Blooming Grove on Tuesday, February 14. The JV men enjoyed a big win but the Varsity Lions did not show much 'heart' on Valentines Day, handing the Bison a loss in their final game. VARSITY

OHS Panthers take pride in powerlifting

     The Oakwood Panthers have always had small teams, no matter what the sport. Their powerlifting team is no exception. OISD Athletic Director Mike Heckathorn took just six boys to the Panther Strength Invitational last Thursday held at Westwood High School. Although a small group in number, this lean mean Panther team never leaves a meet without leaving an impression.

Lady Cougars scratch out two wins and advance in state playoffs

     The Leon Lady Cougars scored wins over Scurry- Rosser (56-48) on February 14th and Grandview (56-50) on February 16th to set up a Regional Quarterfinal match against Bruceville-Eddy. That playoff game will be held February 21st, and is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Groesbeck.

Leon Cougars finish with a win

     The Leon Cougars hosted Eustace on Valentines day in their final regular season game. It was also Senior Night and the Cougars celebrated with a win over the Bulldogs, 45-38. (No further details were available at press time.) The JV boys also played Eustace on February 14th and won 26-16 to complete a successful season.
