Oakwood men’s basketball team loses one on the road, wins at home

Last week the Oakwood Panthers Varsity basketball team played two games, one away and one at home. In Laneville against the Yellow Jackets:

After traveling to Laneville to play the Yellow Jackets, the Panthers were denied the win when LHS took the game 68-57. Bryson Randle had 13 points with 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and a steal. Shaquille Caldwell also had 13 points. He picked up 3 blocks, 11 rebounds, and a couple of steals as well. Jacquez Anderson had 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals while Damiyne Durham had 11 points, 4 assists, a block, 10 rebounds, and 7 steals. At home against the Wortham Bulldogs:

The Panthers took a bite out of the Bulldogs when they won at home on January 27 by a score of 58-47. Randle had 15 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds, and 3 steals in this game. Anderson picked up 15 points with 5 rebounds, an assist, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals. Caldwell had 11 points, an assist, 4 blocks, and 10 rebounds. Durham got 10 points, a block, and 3 rebounds.

At half time, the crowd was entertained by the Oakwood Mini-Cheerleaders. Both the Junior High and High School squads help the little ones, from Pre-K through 6th grade, with a cheer and a dance routine.

The Panthers will play on Tuesday night in Trinidad against the Trojans and then on Friday night in Neches against their rivals, the Tigers.
