Lady Panthers take it on the road

Senior Christina Hudson Senior Christina Hudson The Oakwood Lady Panthers Varsity Basketball team has been traveling on their quest for a District title.

In Douglass against the Maidens:

On January 20th, the Lady Panthers were edged out by the Douglass Maidens by a margin of 19-24. In this game, Senior Christina Hudson scored nine of those 19 points and picked up 9 rebounds, a block, a steal, and an assist. Her amazing record this season put her as Player of the Week for OISD for the week of January 22 on the recruiting website, Max Preps.com. Her stat averages so far this season are 11.9 points per game, 1.3 assists per game, .7 blocks per game, 5.9 rebounds per game, and 1.3 steals per game. Her point total so far this season is 226. Christina's little sister, Freshman Candace Hudson picked up 8 points in this game with 7 rebounds, a block, 2 steals, and 2 assists. She was named Player of the Week for the week of January 15. Her stat averages are eerily similar to her big sister's. They include 11.1 points per game, .5 assists per game, .9 blocks per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, and 1.9 steals per game with total of 210 points to date for the season.

In Laneville against the Lady Jackets:


Freshman Candace Hudson Freshman Candace Hudson The Lady Panthers traveled to Laneville to bring home the win with a score of 39-36. Christina Hudson had 21 points in this game while Candace Hudson had 12.

The Lady Panthers had a home game against Wortham on Friday night but will be back on the road headed to Trinidad on Tuesday and Neches on Friday. They are currently in third place but could be tied for second, depending on the outcome over the next two weeks.
