The Lady Bison continued to look strong as they added district win #8 at home on Tuesday against the Eustace Lady Bulldogs and #9 on the road at Blooming Grove.

Against Eustace, Kylan Ferguson had a big first quarter and sparked BHS to a 22-9 lead after one period. After getting stuck at 22 for several minutes, the Lady Bison got back on track and were able to increase their lead to 31- 17 at halftime. Coach Jozette Jenkins went to her bench early and often as the Lady Bison cruised on to a 56-33 win over EHS.

Kelsey Canady led her team in steals with 4. Hailey Laningham was the top rebounder with 5. Ferguson led the scoring with 13 points, followed closely by Canady (12) and Christina Simpson (11). Lindsey McGill connected for 8, Samantha Atkinson added 5 points and 2 blocks, Laningham scored 2 and Taryn Morman sank a free throw. Also hustling for BHS were Marissa Jones, Lauren Helmcamp and Jessica Presutti.

The Lady Bison faced the Lady Bulldogs of B-G without Atkinson, but Hailey Laningham started at post and did a great job there. The Lady Bulldogs were a scrappy team and the game was a very physical one. Buffalo trailed early but Ferguson got in the groove and led BHS to a 10-6 advantage after the first quarter. McGill got the hot hand in the second, Laningham controlled the boards and Canady snagged three steals as BHS exploded to a 27-10 lead at halftime. B-G fought back to close to within 8, but BHS held them off for a 51-41 win to stay on top in the district race.

McGill led the scoring with 18, including three treys. Ferguson contributed 15 and was 7 of 9 at the line. Hailey Laningham had a double/ double with 10 points and 11 rebounds and grabbed 7 steals. Read pulled down 6 boards, snagged 4 steals and added a free throw. Canady led the defense with 6 steals and scored a bucket. Morman sank a three-pointer, Shelby Reeder added 2 points and Hannah Laningham added a free-throw in her second game of the night.

This week the Leon Lady Cougars come to BHS for the teams’ second meeting, and it should be a good one. Buffalo will be rested from an open date on Tuesday and LHS will be looking to redeem themselves from an earlier loss for a share of the district lead.
