JV girls get healthy and back on track The JV Lady Bison bench was still a little thin when they hosted the Eustace Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday. Sophomore Shelby Ballard was a new addition to the line-up after moving back to Buffalo, but much of the BHS bench was filled with injured players and only six girls were suited up. Carmen Simpson and Zelnisha Lockett sparked the JV Lady Bison to an early lead and BHS was up 8-4 after a quarter. By halftime, however, Eustace was ahead by 5, 12-17. The Lady Bulldogs continued to gain on the tiring Buffalo girls in the second half and BHS lost the contest 21-31. Simpson led all scorers with 13 points. Lockett had one of her best games, contributing 6 points and several rebounds. Ballard added 2 and plenty of hustle. Also battling for the Lady Bison were Katie Glick, Bethany Gaskin and Erykah Anderson. The JV girls were back in almost full force on Friday, and the Lady Bison capitalized with a 47-25 win over the Lady Lions of Blooming Grove. The scoring was spread nicely, led by Ballard (11), followed by Hannah Laningham (9), Kendall Lee (8), Angeles Valles-Villa (7), Anderson (4), Simpson (4), Gaskin (2) and Glick (2). |
