Varsity girls still perfect in District
     The Lady Bison continued to look strong as they added district win #8 at home on Tuesday against the Eustace Lady Bulldogs and #9 on the road at Blooming Grove.

Varsity Bison men battle on
     The Varsity Bison were still looking for their first district win when they hosted Eustace on Tuesday. Kyle Read led the Bison effort in the first quarter and the score was tied after the first 8 minutes. The second quarter ended with a 13-point run by the Bulldogs and Buffalo trailed by 12 at halftime. The buckets still eluded the Bison in the second half and they lost the contest 19-32.

JV girls get healthy and back on track
     The JV Lady Bison bench was still a little thin when they hosted the Eustace Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday. Sophomore Shelby Ballard was a new addition to the line-up after moving back to Buffalo, but much of the BHS bench was filled with injured players and only six girls were suited up.

JV Bison split in this week’s contests
     The JV Bison and the Eustace Bulldogs were well matched and their game on Tuesday at the BHS gym was exciting. The score was often tied or the teams separated by only a narrow margin. In the fourth quarter the advantage swung the Bison's way but late in the game EHS players began to connect on three-pointers.

CHS Tigers lose to New Waverly, defeat Groveton
     The Centerville Tigers played hard all night but the New Waverly Bulldogs came out on top 64-51.

Lady Tigers continue unbeaten in district action
     The Centerville Lady Tigers now have a perfect 8-0 mark in district as they have added wins over Trinity, Onalaska, New Waverly and Groveton.

     The results from the Rice Powerlifting meet are in, and the Oakwood Panthers have shown a promising start.

Leon Cougars JV boys win two to bring their district record to 5-1
     The Leon Cougars JV boys defeated Mildred 32-23 and Eustace 37-26 to bring their season record to 13-4 and district mark to 5-1. The Cougars came out strong against Mildred and had a 13-3 lead after the first period and built a 23-10 lead at half time. The Cougars hit 8-22 from the free throw line. The Cougars traveled to Eustace on January 20th and posted another win 37-26.

Lady Cougars stay close to Lady Bison in district race
     The Lady Cougars of Leon defeated Mildred 56-50 and Eustace 76-46 to stay on the heels of district leader Buffalo.

     The Oakwood Lady Panthers are on the prowl for a District title. So far, they have done a bang up job.

Oakwood Junior High basketball update
     The OJHS Boys basketball team got an unusual treat at last Thursday's home game. They got two games in one night. The boys were split into two teams to play against the Alto Yellow Jackets. In GAME ONE the Panthers took the sting out of the first group of Yellow Jackets, winning 18-6. Tony Maldonado scored 8 points, Trey Minter had 4 points, and Cameron Brummett got 6 points.
